A Message from Head Coach Barry Davis
The 2023-24 baseball season is
here and brings much excitement. Coming off a year where Rider baseball won its
second MAAC championship in three years, tied the school record in overall wins
with 36, and defeated 10th-ranked Coastal Carolina in the NCAA regional.
Rider’s first regional win since 1987. The season included a Liberty Bell
Championship, Rider’s second ever. Two non-conference wins over 2022 national
runner-up Oklahoma and 6th ranked Duke were highlights of a season where
consistency reined.
Rider baseball has been a model
program for decades, qualifying for one College World Series, 15 regional
appearances, and 13 conference championships, including four MAAC tournament
championships. There have been only three head coaches at Rider since 1961. Two
are ABCA Hall of Fame Coaches – Tom Petroff and Sonny Pittaro.
The 2024 spring is once again a
challenging one. But it has become more challenging financially. This year,
fundraising must reach levels never before met in my tenure. Although we have
raised significant amounts of money in the past, which is a big thanks to you,
the cost to maintain the level of Rider baseball requires more. Much more than
the past few seasons.
Your contribution is immensely
valued. On behalf of the Rider baseball program and its players, I thank you
for your support.
