The Center for Diversity and Inclusion at Rider University is dedicated to advancing the university's commitment to embracing and celebrating the rich tapestry of cultures and lifestyles represented within our diverse community. Through a strategic combination of programming, policies, and best practices, we actively promote mutual understanding and appreciation among various groups of people.

What is AASLE

The African American Student Leadership Experience (AASLE) is a four-day intensive experience where students will interact with prominent keynote speakers and facilitators in the area of leadership development. Students attending AASLE will be challenged to put theory into practice, thus having a leadership experience in real-time.

The AASLE Experience

The African American Leadership Experience transcends the label of a mere conference; it stands as a transformative journey that nurtures personal and professional connections that span state lines. Within this immersive venture, they delved into profound leadership insights, delving into the emotional facets of guiding others. Dr. Walker's workshop, shedding light on the weight of concealing one's authentic self, left an indelible mark.

AASLE also helps students hone their communication skills, discovering how to approach miscommunication with precision and impact. We believe these skills would prove invaluable to the Rider community,  especially minority students who want to grow into leadership roles here at Rider.

The numerous postgraduate prospects unveiled by AASLE, ranging from diplomatic opportunities to fellowships generously supported by the US State Department, underscore its significance as a catalyst for future success. Beyond professional development, AASLE serves as a tight-knit community with a presence on diverse campuses across the state. In this, they see not just an opportunity for growth, but a flourishing network primed for leadership development.
