Jan's Passions

As a student advocate and supporter, Jan has served as a longstanding advisor to Hillel, and has contributed to the success of underrepresented, underresourced, and marginalized students in countless ways. Supporting opportunities for individual student success is what consistently drives Jan’s motivation.

Celebrating the Retirement of Jan Friedman-Krupnick

Most of us didn’t know if this day would ever come, because Jan’s devotion to Rider University and her unmatched work ethic are characteristics known to everyone on campus.

Jan began her time at Rider overseeing Residence Life, and experienced many leadership positions along the way including oversight of student affairs business, technology, and dining services, and for many years as Assistant Vice President. As you can imagine, her impact has been immense, including laying the foundation of our residential program, initiating learning communities and faculty in residence, and even developing the Bronc Buddy program. Institutionally, she has contributed leadership to various iterations of dining hall redesign and dining improvements, university strategic planning, athletics self-study, Banner implementation, and the implementation of the engaged learning program.

As a student advocate and supporter, Jan has served as a longstanding advisor to Hillel, and has contributed to the success of underrepresented, underresourced, and marginalized students in countless ways. Supporting opportunities for individual student success is what consistently drives Jan’s motivation.

The significance of her contributions have been recognized through the Frank N. Elliott Award for Distinguished Service, the Provost’s Initiative Award, Ziegler-Gee Award, and the Michelle McCormack Award, and she even has a student award, the Jan Friedman-Krupnick CA of the year award, named in her honor. Jan will continue to engage with Rider in her Emeritus status.
