Honoring Kathleen Ebling Shaw '85

After more than 30 years on the Westminster Choir College faculty, Kathleen Ebling Shaw '85 has announced that she will be retiring in spring 2024.

A Westminster alumna, Kathy first began teaching in the 1991-1992 academic year. She has led national and regional tours, campus concerts, and was instrumental in the development of Westminster's iconic event An Evening of Readings and Carols. Kathy has also appeared on The Today Show and at Carnegie Hall, and has impacted countless students and performers through her work here at Westminster and as a nationally respected clinician.

"My time in the Westminster Concert Bell Choir stands as a pinnacle of my Westminster experience. Guided by Kathy Ebling Shaw, I not only honed my skills as an accomplished ringer but also cultivated the expertise necessary to inspire future generations of ringers."
- Derek Cressman '04

"Kathy has played a pivotal role in my life that words could never begin to describe. Her talent, care, and high standards have given hundreds of musicians the perfect environment to grow exponentially under her baton. Kathy is a cornerstone of the Westminster Choir College legacy and in the handbell world at large. Her work through the Westminster Handbell program, Malmark Bellcraftsmen, and the Handbell Musicians of America has helped to move our instrument to new heights of professionalism. To say I am honored to be a life-long student of Kathy Ebling Shaw would be the understatement of the century!"
